LuxOS Now Supports Zcash (ZEC) Mining, Starting With the Antminer Z15 Pro
LuxOS brings a 14.4% sustained overclock and its full tuning and monitoring toolkit to Equihash hardware for the first time. Public installs open October 1.
With ZEC near $1,200 and the Zcash network hashing ~31 GSol/s, a stock Antminer Z15 Pro nets ~$42/day at $0.07/kWh. LuxOS now runs on the Z15 Pro, and our test machine is netting ~$47/day on the same power price, after LuxOS's 2.8% fee. It is the first Equihash miner LuxOS has supported, and public installs open October 1.
TLDR
- LuxOS now supports the Antminer Z15 Pro, its first Equihash (Zcash) machine. Our test unit holds ~991 KSol/s against Bitmain's 840 KSol/s stock spec (+18.0%); we quote +14.4% (~961 KSol/s) as the rate it sustains across the day.
- Net gain is ~$4.77/day per machine after LuxOS's 2.8% fee and the extra power, at ZEC $1,200, 31 GSol/s of network hashrate and $0.07/kWh. That is +0.17 ZEC per machine every 30 days. A 100-unit fleet adds ~$477/day, ~$14,301 per 30 days, or ~17.2 ZEC.
- Power draw rises +45%, from ~2,780 W to 4,032 W (+1,252 W per machine) at the tested profile. The overclock stays net-positive up to ~$0.23/kWh at $1,200 ZEC, or down to ~$370 ZEC at $0.07/kWh.
- The full LuxOS toolkit comes with it: frequency and voltage tuning, per-hashboard telemetry, and chip-level health scoring, now on Equihash.
- Public installs open October 1. Luxor's team can install LuxOS on your Z15 Pros before then.
What Changed: The First Equihash Machine on LuxOS
Until today, LuxOS ran on Bitcoin ASICs only. The Antminer Z15 Pro is the first Equihash machine it supports, and it ships with the same tuning and monitoring stack Bitcoin fleets already run.
On stock firmware, the Z15 Pro is a fixed 840 KSol/s box. There is no supported way to raise frequency or voltage, no per-chip view, and no health scoring. LuxOS changes the machine from a sealed unit into one you can tune to your power price and cooling.
The spec bundle, stock vs. our LuxOS test unit:
- Stock firmware: 840 KSol/s | ~2,780 W | 3.31 J/KSol
- LuxOS (test unit): ~991 KSol/s | 4,032 W | 4.07 J/KSol
- Difference: +151 KSol/s (+18.0%) | +1,252 W (+45.0%) | +22.9% J/KSol
The efficiency line is the trade every overclock makes: more Sol/s per machine, more W per Sol. Whether that trade pays depends on your power cost and the ZEC price.
What Stock Firmware Leaves on the Table
Antminer Z15 Pro hashrate, stock vs. LuxOS
Bars start at zero. Stock spec per Bitmain. LuxOS test unit measured September 23, 2026; the sustained figure is the rate Luxor is confident the machine holds across the day.
Figure 1. Antminer Z15 Pro hashrate on stock firmware vs. LuxOS. Toggle between the sustained +14.4% figure and the test unit's measured rate. Illustrative, based on published specs and Luxor's test machine.
Per machine, at ZEC $1,200, 31 GSol/s of network hashrate, 1,152 blocks/day and a 1.25 ZEC miner reward (1,440 ZEC/day to miners), net of LuxOS's 2.8% fee and before pool fees:
- Stock firmware: 0.0390 ZEC/day → $46.82 revenue − $4.67 power = $42.15/day net
- LuxOS: 0.0447 ZEC/day → $53.69 revenue − $6.77 power = $46.92/day net
- Difference: +0.0057 ZEC/day, or +$4.77/day per machine
Over the first 90 days after install, that is $4,223 on LuxOS vs. $3,794 on stock, a $429 gap per machine. At $7,475/unit for a Z15 Pro (Luxor's September 9, 2026 quote, Jan–Feb 2027 futures, Asia EXW), simple payback shortens from ~177 days on stock to ~159 days on LuxOS at these assumptions.

Run the Numbers for Your Fleet
LuxOS versus stock firmware, net of LuxOS's 2.8% fee and the extra power. Drag the slider or type a fleet size.
Change assumptions
Net gain with LuxOS
+$477per day
+$14,301 every 30 days
- Extra ZEC, 30 days
- +17.2 ZEC
- Extra hashrate
- +15.1 MSol/s
- Extra power needed
- +125.2 kW
At these numbers, the extra power costs more than the extra ZEC earns. Lower the power cost or raise the ZEC price to see where the overclock pays.
Net earnings over the first 90 days after install

- Stock firmware
- What stock leaves behind
Estimates, not guarantees. Assumes ZEC at $1,200 and power at $0.07/kWh, Zcash network hashrate of 31 GSol/s, and a 1.25 ZEC miner reward per block, net of LuxOS's 2.8% fee and before pool fees. LuxOS figures come from our test machine at about 991 KSol/s and 4,032 W, against Bitmain's stock spec of 840 KSol/s at about 2,780 W. Results change with ZEC price, network difficulty, and your power cost. Confirm PSU, circuit, and cooling headroom before overclocking. Figures as of September 25, 2026.

Two sensitivities matter more than the rest.
Power cost. At $1,200 ZEC, the per-machine net gain from the overclock is +$5.67/day at $0.04/kWh, +$4.77 at $0.07, +$3.87 at $0.10 and +$2.36 at $0.15. The overclock breaks even at ~$0.23/kWh, so it is gross-margin positive for nearly every grid-connected operator; what your power bill changes is how much of the gain survives.
ZEC price. At $0.07/kWh, the gain is +$1.33/day at $600 ZEC, +$3.05 at $900, +$4.77 at $1,200 and +$6.48 at $1,500. Breakeven is ~$370 ZEC. Below that, the extra 1,252 W costs more than the extra ZEC earns, and the calculator flips the headline to "net cost of overclocking."
Network hashrate dilutes both lines in proportion. If Zcash hashrate rises from 31 to 40 GSol/s, stock and LuxOS revenue both fall by ~22.5%, and the dollar gain shrinks with them, but the relative gap holds at the same +14.7% net of fee.

What LuxOS Brings to the Z15 Pro
- Overclocking beyond stock spec. Run the Z15 Pro past its 840 KSol/s rating: +14.4% sustained, ~+18% on our test unit.
- Performance tuning. Set frequency and voltage to fit your power price and cooling instead of running Bitmain's single fixed profile.
- Per-hashboard monitoring. Voltage, frequency, hashrate and temperature for each of the three boards.
- Chip-level health scoring. Spot a weak chip before it drags the board down. Figure 5 above is what that looks like on Equihash.
- The full LuxOS toolkit. The same firmware Bitcoin fleets already run, on a new algorithm.
How to Setup
- Check power headroom. LuxOS draws up to 4,032 W per machine at the tested profile, 1,252 W more than stock. Confirm PSU rating, circuit capacity and cooling for each unit before you install.
- Request the install. Before October 1, submit your fleet at go.luxor.tech/luxos-z15-pro and Luxor's team installs LuxOS for you. From October 1, public installs open through Commander.
- Set the profile. Start on the tested overclock profile. Adjust frequency and voltage from there to match your power and cooling.
- Watch the first 24 hours. Check per-hashboard temperature and chip health scores. Reduce the profile on any board that runs hot or shows a weak chip.
FAQ
Is the 14.4% guaranteed? No. It is the rate our test unit sustains across the day; the same machine reads ~991 KSol/s (+18.0%) at its best. Your result depends on chip quality, ambient temperature and PSU headroom. Treat every figure in this post as an estimate.
Does LuxOS support the Z15 or Z15K? Support starts with the Z15 Pro. Get notified as it expands to other Equihash hardware.
What does LuxOS cost on the Z15 Pro? LuxOS takes a 2.8% fee, applied as a share of hashrate. Net of that fee, the test unit delivers ~963 KSol/s (+14.7%) and the sustained figure ~934 KSol/s (+11.2%) to your pool. Every dollar figure in this post is already net of it.
Do I need a different pool? No. LuxOS is pool-agnostic. Point the machine at whichever Zcash pool you already use.
Conclusion
LuxOS turns the Antminer Z15 Pro from a fixed 840 KSol/s box into a machine you can tune. At today's ZEC price and network hashrate, the overclock is worth ~$4.77/day per machine after fee and power, and the gap compounds every day a fleet stays on stock.
