Behind the Scenes: How Advanced Crypto Services (ACS) Keeps Machines Mining
A look into ACS's Bitcoin mining services, from industrial repairs to a new home mining device.
During the North American Blockchain Summit (NABS) 2025 in Dallas, Texas this October, Luxor’s team members had an opportunity to visit Advanced Crypto Services (ACS). What we saw was a trusted repair partner for the world's largest industrial mining operations. This site visit provided unique insights into both their industrial-grade services and their new home mining product: the Bitaxe Touch.
Background
Founded in 2021, Advanced Crypto Services (ACS) has built its reputation as a leading ASIC repair and maintenance provider, servicing over 500,000 Bitmain and MicroBT rigs for some of the world's largest mining operations. Starting in a 2,000 sq. ft. workshop in early 2022, the company evolved from hardware repairs into parts distribution, field services, and in-house diagnostics services. Their current facility footprint of 100,000 sq. ft. showcases the depth of experience ACS brings to the table for mining operations facing equipment challenges.
Certifications
ACS holds multiple industry-relevant certifications in the bitcoin mining repair landscape. They are both Bitmain certified for comprehensive repair services including chip replacement, and IPC-7711C/7721C certified for rework and repair of electronic assemblies. ACS’ repair services include the following:
- Inspections — Documenting machine conditions and generating health assessments to establish a clear baseline before repair.
- Hashboard Diagnostics — Running tests to pinpoint board-level faults.
- Hashboard Repair — Component-level fixes on ASICs.
- Power Supply Repair — Refurbishing PSUs and control boards.
- Cleaning — Remove dust and contaminants using compressed air, ultrasonic processes, or conveyor-based cleaning systems.
In addition to these core capabilities, ACS’ specialty includes advanced diagnostics using proprietary testing systems. For operators dealing with the complexity of modern mining, having partners like ACS to support on the hardware front is valuable.
Comprehensive Support Services
ACS has evolved beyond repair services into comprehensive mining infrastructure support. Their service portfolio now includes:
Equipment Assessments
The company provides inspection services detailing condition reports with photo documentation. The process is as follows:
- Mining hardware received, initial conditions documented upon arrival.
- Visual Inspection on external components with photo documentation.
- Functional testing for power and performance evaluation.
- Component analysis with examination of hashboards, PSUs, and control boards.
- Report generation with findings and recommendations.
This end-to-end approach helps operators optimize their facilities before any problems arise.
Immersion Cooling Conversions
ACS offers services to convert air-cooled machines for immersion cooling setups, and immersion-to-air conversion to reconfigure miners back to air cooling for secondary hardware market transactions. This bi-directional capability is crucial as the industry continues to experiment with different cooling solutions for optimal efficiency. James Scaggs, CEO & Founder (ACS), walked us through this process with a demonstration of ACS’ custom-built infrastructure for these immersion solutions.

ACS follows a systematic approach to ensure proper preparation for immersion cooling:
- Equipment assessment for compatibility.
- Components removal for air cooling parts.
- Sealing to prepare machines for immersion cooling.
- Testing to verify performance.
- Final documentation for deployment.
ACS manages logistics, coordinating the shipping, receiving, and movement of machines to and from facilities, with storage and inventory management in place. Upon request, operators can also have ACS install Luxor firmware — LuxOS — before sending machines back out.
The company’s broader on-site support services range from machine deployment and decommissioning to maintenance and diagnostics. For industrial-scale miners managing thousands of rigs, these comprehensive solutions can significantly reduce operational complexity.
Bitaxe Touch: Hashing at Home for Everyone
ACS's enterprise services have established their industrial reputation, and their recent foray into home mining devices with the Bitaxe Touch takes us back to the open-source, decentralized nature of Bitcoin and mining.

Bitaxe is an open-source Bitcoin mining project. First instigated by Skot over three years ago, it focuses on creating small, home-based Bitcoin miners for hobbyists and enthusiasts interested in mining. Bitaxe miners use ASICs found in industrial miners, but scaled down to a single or few chips. They operate quietly, consume little power, and are designed for solo mining.
The Bitaxe Touch, developed by ACS, is equipped with the BM1370 ASIC chip from Bitmain’s S21 Pro. It delivers a hashrate of up to 1 TH/s with an efficiency of around 17 J/TH. The device's standout feature is its 4.3" touchscreen and user interface. An 800×480 pixel LCD displays real-time mining metrics and on-chain data, synced from ACS's private Mempool.space instance for low latency. The touchscreen UI also works on top of AxeOS, which remains accessible from the device's IP address, allowing technically inclined users to customize the operating system.

To get started, users simply connect to Wi-Fi, tap through a guided setup process, and start mining in minutes. The device ships with a power supply rated for 100–240V and an international adapter kit, requiring no technical expertise and additional components.
The Bitaxe Touch is available for purchase at $325. Although this price point is out of range in comparison to industrial-scale mining machines on a $/TH basis, it offers a seamless entry point for individuals looking to start mining hassle-free.
Conclusion
The visit to ACS during NABS 2025 gave us insight into a critical support services provider for the Bitcoin mining industry. ACS continues to support the Bitcoin network through its repair and maintenance services, and their latest contribution to the Bitcoin ecosystem — the Bitaxe Touch — brings the blockchain straight to your desktop.
Until next time!
